She has been called the champion of oral histories by the Schenectady Gazette. She is the Executive Director of the NY Folklore Socieity and her impressive bio is here. February 2009: Bonnie Beard gave an overview of the history and mission of the International Center of the Capital Region, and what role the RPCV's might play in programs such as the International Visitor Leadership Program. October 2008: Steve Andersen's enlightening presentation on his Peace Corps service in Mali, encompassing solar ovens, people with disabilities, microfinancing,
project management and jewelry that benefits widows and orphans, is here.March 2008: Marian Adomakoh and Paul Eduah of the Ghana Association, presented the work their group is doing with other community groups to sponsor scholarships for the African community in the Capital District, and with the Westminster Church which sponsors an orphanage in Accra. March 2008: Cecelia Skott (RPCV Paraguay 66-68) of Center for International Development spoke about SUNY's efforts to have the School of Public Health designated as a Masters International program in cooperation with Peace Corps. April 2006: Cathie Curren, of American Field Services, presented her recent trip to Uganda with AIDS Orphan Education Trust, a group that empowers AIDS widows and orphans.
