Art work on display at the Rubin Museum of Art

Greetings, Peace Corps: saathi haru, and Namaste!

I am very excited to let you all know (or at least remind you) that the Rubin Museum of Art’s Nepal exhibition, From the Land of the Gods: Art of the Kathmandu Valley opens this coming Friday, March 14th!

The RPCV at RMA program is successfully coming together and I am really excited about working with you all and hearing your gallery talks! We have thus far eight confirmed speakers on seven different nights. Here is the current schedule:

APRIL 11      Rajeev Goyal   PC Nepal, (2001-2003)

MAY 9          Michael Gill   PC Nepal, (1967-1969)
                    Barbara Butterworth   PC Nepal, (1966-1968)

MAY 16        John Jacoby   PC Nepal, (1970-1972)

JUNE 6
Andrew Burtless   PC Nepal, (2001-2003)

JUNE 20
Mimi Calhoun   PC Nepal, (1966-1967)

AUGUST 22
Brian Chin   PC Nepal, (2001-2003) (Brian, please send me your bio when you get a chance. Thanks!)

DATE TO BE CONFIRMED     Malcolm (Mac) Odell   PC Nepal, Group #1 (1962-1967)

I have attached to this email a word document with the schedule and each participant’s bio statement. Please let me know if there are any edits/changes you would like to make. (And please confirm for me the dates of your service and your group number in the section above.) It would also be fantastic if the RPCV participants could each email me a photo of them in action in context that we can use for fliers and/or other publicity materials. Thank you all so much!

Please remember also that we require all RPCV presenters to visit the exhibition prior to their talk, even if it is just a couple of hours earlier on the day of their presentation. I am here Weds-Saturdays (we are closed on Tuesdays) and would be happy to meet you at the front admissions desk and walk you through the exhibition. Please let me know when you will be able to come.

Lastly, we still have open dates and opportunities for other Nepal RPCV participants! Please continue to spread the word! Here are some of the remaining available Friday evening dates:

April 4
June 13
July 11, 18
August 1, 8, 15
September Fridays to be determined

Thank you all so much for your time. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or suggestions. And I believe we are still searching for a catchy name for this program (“RPCVs at RMA” is too “esoteric”- even for this institution!) in case any of you have any ideas!

All my best,
Adam
