2010 Afghan Night

  • August 14 - 15, 2010... 4th or 5th annual mini-retreat: Join us at Becky's "cabin" on Lake Champlain in Westport.  Come for the day or stay overnight.  Limited indoor sleeping, but a large tent and places to pitch your own tent are available.  Bring food & drink to share (for whichever meals & campfires you plan to attend), whatever you'll need to enjoy the water, and bedding if you'll stay overnight.  Becky has some kayaks and PFD's.  RSVP to RebeccaADixon@hotmail.com   Directions are hear...
  • August 21, 2010... Untangled: A complete event:  Why battle the Tanglewood crowds when you can listen from Sue's & Van's Weathertop hillside?  Dinner is at 6pm and move to the pavillion for desserts and music at 8.  Contact Sue to coordinate what you will bring to the table Groundwork11@gmail.com  Directions - coming
  • Once In Afghanistan DVD coverJanuary 8, 2010:  Afghan Night in Ballston Spa.  The evening included a specially prepared Afghan dinner and viewing the documentary film "Once In Afghanistan" and photo exhibit "Afganistan Revisted."  Full details, poster and a discussion by the producers is here.
  • Summer Picnic, July 10, 2010:  We enjoyed a lovely BBQ, bonfire & swim at Bob Crowley's.  Some folks took a short hike at Barberville Falls.  Amie presented the official PC "what to say when people ask about your PC service" talk.  Sue & Bob talked about the 50th plans.  The announcement is here...
2009 Summer events
  • June 13, 2009 (Saturday) - Summer picnic at Wilson Campground in the Catskills.  More info is here
  • July 7, 2009 (Tuesday) - 6pm Bring your kids, grandkids and/or bathing suits to the monthly meeting at Kim's and Chris's.  
  • July 18, 2009 (Saturday) - Sue & Van's annual Untangled! event.  You can drive to Tanglewood, fight for parking, sit far from the stage with thousands of total strangers (and what if you have to use the bathroom?) - or you could enjoy a simulcast with friends.  Bring a dish & drink to share and a lawn chair.  RSVP to Sue
  • August 15-16, 2009 (Saturday - Sunday) - Save the date for a Becky's gracious offer to stay at her cabin on Lake Champlain.  RSVP to Becky.  Directions are here...

Our Autumn/Winter monthly meetings in were filled new info and new places
(Dec 2) Thank you Kristin for inviting us up to Cambridge
(Nov 4)  Tim & Tracy returned with photos and perspectives of life and culture in the great down under
(Oct 7)   Steve Andersen shared his PC experience in Mali and his plans for the future
(Sept 2)  Dave Borton spoke on renewable energy at Christine Dryfus's home

(Oct 25, 2007) Festival of Nations at the Empire State Plaza.  
Thanks to Jane, we once again had a table to promote Peace Corps and to reconnect with RPCV's who attend the Festival.  Volunteers monitored the PC table and the doors to the Egg.  Next year we won't volunteer.  Instead, we'll pay for the table and try to recoop the cost by selling calendars.  

(Aug 16 - 17, 2008)   Summer outing:
Becky's Grandparentsgraciously opened their home on Lake Champlain for us to enjoy swimming, BBQ, boating and just plain fun.  Thanks so much!  

(July 26, 2008) Untangled:
We unwound at Sue & Van's while listening to the evening's live broadcast of the Pops from Tanglewood. Stretch your neck, you might even imagine that you can see Tanglewood (Tanglewood is closer to Sue and Van's than Russia is to Alaska!).  See the invitation here.  
(June 21, 2008) Summer Picnic:

If you are interested in Peace Corps and want to meet Returned Volunteers, you are welcome to join our picnic.  Please also contact, Amie Kabia <AKabia@peacecorps.gov>, for more detailed info on serving overseas with the Peace Corps.
