Dear Wendy and RPCV Friends,
Thank you very much for sending the two packages and greetings from
everyone. We had to go to Koforidua yesterday to pick them up.
Koforidua is about an hour away by trotro - crowded van but we love the
trip. The school went to the Post Office in Akropong and had three
slips for packages for us. As soon as w e finished classes we made a
dash to find out what we had received. The third package was from
Finland!
It was very thoughtful of everyone in the group to contribute little
things for us and for the students. We gave the books and material to
the headmasters today and they were thrilled!
We are sorry for the cost!!!
Joan wore her honeymoon pin to school today and several students
commented on how lovely it was (and would she give it to them). She
told them that they had to be married to have a pin like this.
We are winding up our classes tomorrow. Today several of the students
went to rehearse the Independence Day Marching at the Teacher Training
College in town.
Today the school presented each of us with
Kente Cloth. On the way home we stopped to have Joan's made into a
suit-type dress. Mine is a huge single piece which is to be wrapped
around me - and yes it is big enough! The one that Bob F has is very
similar. Now we know what to do with it.
We look forward to seeing everyone very soon.
Thank you again for all your support!
Love,
Joan and Harry
